The Professor Ryszard Siwecki Hornbeam Walk

The Professor Ryszard Siwecki Hornbeam Walk became protected as a natural monument under the Resolution No. XVI / 211/03 of the Town Council of Kołobrzeg as of 29th December 2003.It is a nineteenth-century hornbeam alley. It consists of 277 trees - 101 old and 176 young (5-6 year old) ones. The aim of the existence of the walk is to create a vault made of plants. To that end, the trees grow on a special construction facilitating the formation of the desired shape. The patron of the walk in Kołobrzeg became Professor Ryszard Siwecki. He acted in favour of the greenery in Kołobrzeg, for example he tried to save the walk and restore its former glory.
