Artistic families in Szczecin

We would like to invite you to a meeting with Magdalena Tyczka, who will talk about the activities of several artistic families from the post-war period to the present day in Szczecin.
"Artistic Families in Szczecin" is a project that brings closer the stories of artists who began their visual arts activities in Szczecin, as well as subsequent generations who continue their work here in various fields of art. The first post-war Szczecin visual artists created views of the city and harbor wharves, usually in the realist or color trend. The early 1950s also saw the arrival in Szczecin of young graduates of the Sopot academy, and in subsequent years also graduates of art schools from Krakow, Wroclaw and Toruñ. Most of them remained in Szczecin and started families here. Today, these are the departing generations who formed Szczecin's artistic community in previous decades, including the then 13 Muses Club and the Szczecin Association of Polish Artists.
The publication is a summary of the activities of more than a dozen artistic families from the post-war period to the present. These are stories depicting sculpting duos, painting duos, numerous graduates of art high schools and marriages that were united by education or artistic activity. Of no small importance for the artistic development of the city was the establishment of higher education, i.e. the College of Applied Arts and later the Academy of Art.
The juxtaposition of different generations allows us to look at the activities of the artistic community over many decades. Artistic family relations, is distinguished by the fact that each generation has its own worldview and its own inspirations expressed in the language of art. At the same time, family relations make it possible to draw on the heritage and build on these resources with their own technique and style.
