Historical and literary contest "Spaces of heritage"

The Stanislaw Staszic Pomeranian Bookstore in Szczecin and the Office for Documentation of Monuments in Szczecin invite high school students and 7th and 8th graders of elementary schools in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship to participate in the contest.
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the founding and 80th anniversary of the post-war operation of the S. Staszic Pomeranian Bookstore in Szczecin, this year's 14th edition of the contest is dedicated to "THE WORD'S WILDNESS", its depositors and creators.
We encourage the contest work to be about books, libraries, reading and the people associated with them. The heroes of the story can be books that have influenced interest in the history of Western Pomerania, or library buildings - often historic and hiding numerous secrets of the past. You can tell about your first contacts with your neighborhood library, about trips between bookshelves and acquaintances made there, but also about unwritten books or manuscripts lying somewhere in drawers and waiting for an attentive reader.
In previous editions of the contest, the imagination of the participants knew no bounds, and the topic was grasped in a creative and daring way. As for the choice of prose genre, the contest gives you freedom - you can write, for example, an essay, a short story or a report. The text should fit in 10 A4 typewritten pages. For the organizers it is important not only the literary form of the competition works, but also the consistency of their content with the theme of the competition and historical facts. The competition committee appreciates beautiful, correct Polish, research reliability and independence in creating a story based on historical knowledge.
The authors of the best works will be awarded the title of winner, attractive prizes and diplomas.
ATTENTION!!! This year's competition is on the list of competitions of the Board of Education in Szczecin, scored for recruitment to high schools!!!
The contest starts on February 28, and we are waiting for the works until April 27, 2025. The results will be announced by May 29, 2025, before the final grading of the school. The presentation of awards will be held in September.
