Organizer (name of institution or first and last name): Książnica Pomorska im. Stanisława Staszica
We invite you to an author's meeting around the book "The Pink Line." With its author, South African-born Mark Gevisser, we will explore how and why attacks on LGBTQ+ rights have been used to fight other conflicts around the world: from Eastern Europe, to countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, and of course the United States.
Mark Gevisser will visit West Pomerania on the route of his ongoing research into the life of pioneering sexologist and gay and transgender rights activist Magnus Hirschfeld, who was born in Kolobrzeg in 1968 to a prominent Jewish family from Szczecin.
During the meeting, Mark Gevisser will also tell this part of his work. His interlocutors will be: Adrian Stachowski of Poznan Publishing House, translator of "The Pink Line," and Szczecin activist Monika Tichy, Trans Pride Poland.
The talk will be held in English with simultaneous translation into Polish.
During the meeting it will be possible to buy the book "Pink Line: How Love and Gender Divide the World" on the spot. Sales will be conducted by Mandala Bookstore.
