The "Dixieland" band is a jazz formation that has been active for several decades. It specializes in performing music in the style of traditional New Orleans jazz, evoking the atmosphere of the 1920s and 1930s.The band's musicians have been performing on concert and festival stages for years, presenting a repertoire that combines classical sounds with the joy of improvisation.The concert in Walcz will bring a solid dose of energy, style and lightness characteristic of swing and the first decades of jazz.Dixieland is one of the oldest and most recognizable styles of jazz, which was born in the early 20th century in New Orleans. Also called traditional jazz or hot jazz, it is characterized by a cheerful, energetic sound based on lively rhythms and collective improvisation. In Dixieland music, each instrument has its own role, but musicians often improvise simultaneously, creating a distinctive, multi-layered sound texture. A typical ensemble lineup includes trumpet, clarinet, trombone, banjo, tuba or double bass, percussion and sometimes piano - all of which work together to create a colorful, swinging whole. The name "dixieland" comes from the word "Dixie," which in the 19th century referred to the American Southern states, especially those south of the Mason-Dixon line. It was there, in multicultural New Orleans, that this joyful variety of jazz was born, drawing on African-American rhythms, European harmony, marching music and ragtime. Today dixieland is not only the history of jazz, but also a still living concert tradition, which, with its unpretentiousness and liveliness, can captivate audiences regardless of age or musical tastes.
