29th Traveling Ukrainian Culture Festival

The Prosvita Foundation and the Wałcz Cultural Center invite you to a concert by the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble "Czerkaski Narodnyj Chor," which will take place on August 31 at 12:00 p.m. in the WCK auditorium. Admission is free. The event is part of the 29th Travelling Festival of Ukrainian Culture and will be held as part of the celebrations of the 34th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's statehood – a symbolic date reminding us of the strength of tradition, cultural continuity and the Ukrainian people's striving for sovereignty and independence. The Travelling Ukrainian Culture Festival is a cyclical artistic event whose idea is to cultivate and popularize Ukrainian heritage through music, dance, and the art of words. It is organized by the Prosvita Foundation, an institution that has been supporting the development of Ukrainian culture in Poland for many years, caring for the preservation of its identity and building intercultural dialogue. The festival, as its name suggests, travels to different locations, creating a space for a lively encounter with tradition. The Academic Song and Dance Ensemble "Czerkaski Narodnyj Chor" will perform in Wałcz. The ensemble has over sixty years of history and is considered one of the pillars of the Ukrainian folk scene. The choir was founded in 1957 in Cherkasy, in central Ukraine. Since 1981, it has been a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize, and since 2007, it has held the title of academic ensemble. Its repertoire includes lyrical and ritual songs, compositions by contemporary artists, as well as spectacular folk dances inspired by the Cossack tradition. Each performance of the ensemble is not only a display of vocal and choreographic virtuosity, but above all an artistic story about the identity, roots, and spiritual landscape of Ukraine.
