On November 20, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the conference room of the Marshal's Office of the West Pomeranian Province at ul. J. Piłsudskiego 40 (formerly the Delfin cinema), a scientific conference entitled "The Biological Basis of Forensic Science – Present and Future" will be held, organized by the Institute of Biology of the University of Szczecin.
Speakers from the region and from Poland, who are specialists in various fields of biology, will present the possibilities of modern biological material analysis, which is the basis for forensic investigations. The conference is primarily aimed at students of biological sciences, law, and archaeology. Natural scientists will see how much progress has been made and what techniques can be used in investigations in the near future. Future prosecutors, judges, and lawyers will learn about the great possibilities offered by biology in solving crimes, while archaeologists will once again touch bones to uncover the secrets they hold. Conference participants will have many opportunities to ask questions to specialists, and during breaks they will be able to meet "face to face" with practitioners.
The conference "Biological Foundations of Forensic Science – Present and Future" is held under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Province, Olgierd Geblewicz, His Magnificence, the Rector of the University of Szczecin, Prof. Waldemar Tarczyński, PhD, and the Dean of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, Dr. Magdalena Achrem, Prof. US.
The conference is financed by the Regional Excellence Initiative.
