"A family—Georg, Anna, and their son Georgie—arrive at a lake for a relaxing vacation. Their peaceful stay is brutally interrupted when two young men, Paul and Peter, enter their cottage. Initially seemingly polite, they gradually transform into sadistic psychopaths, forcing the family to participate in their terrifying "games." The film addresses the issue of violence in the media and places the viewer in the uncomfortable role of a participant—Haneke enters into a dialogue with the audience, breaking the fourth wall."
