The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska's death. Thanks to a resolution passed by the Polish Senate, it will also be Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska Year in Poland.
In order to commemorate this moment and bring the poet's work closer to the public, the project "West Pomeranian celebrations of the Year of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska" was created to show a different side of the author of Pocałunki (Kisses).

One of the important elements of the celebrations is the documentary film "Lilka. The Story of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska" featuring the poet's eminent biographer, Prof. Elżbieta Hurnik, and the biographer of the Kossak family, Rafał Podraza. The film will be directed by Małgorzata Frymus, with cinematography by Łukasz Nyks and music by Krzysztof Baranowski. The documentary aims to show a different side of the "Polish Sappho."
To conclude the Szczecin celebrations of the Year of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, the Committee has planned a large concert entitled "We Sing Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska," which will include the Szczecin premiere of the musical poem "Roses for Sappho for soprano and piano or orchestra." The inspiration for the 1937 poem was Feliks Nowowiejski's volume of Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska's poems "Krystalizacje" (Crystallizations). In order to broaden the audience for Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska's work, Sara Frymus, a student at the Academy of Art, together with Krzysztof Baranowski, will perform a recital of the most famous musical works from the repertoire of Ewa Demarczyk, Ich Troje, and Anna Maria Jopek, which were inspired by the poems of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, and several new songs will be created for Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska's work.
