We invite all history lovers to a meeting with Elżbieta Cherezińska, a writer who has a knack for bringing the past closer to us. Damian Chmiel will lead the conversation with one of the most interesting and highly regarded Polish authors of historical novels.
Elżbieta Cherezińska (born 1972) – theater scholar, writer, master of epic tales about Polish history. She is famous for her ability to combine historical facts with lively narration, thanks to which she restores the glory of forgotten figures and events. Her books, such as Korona śniegu i krwi (The Crown of Snow and Blood), Odrodzone królestwo (The Reborn Kingdom) and Turniej cieni (The Tournament of Shadows), nominated in the Book of the Year poll, have gained a huge following of loyal readers.
"Śmiały"
In her latest two-volume story about Bolesław Śmiały/Szczodry, Cherezińska passionately reveals to readers the dramatic background of 11th-century Poland. It is a story of ambition, power, and political games, in which even the heroes of the "golden legend" must face the shadow of propaganda and their own mistakes. The author gives voice to both the powerful rulers and the women of the era—those who, from the background of history, helped shape its course.
