In picturesque Battinsthal, nestled among the gentle fields and meadows of Vorpommern, stands the unique von Schuckmann family burial chapel – a true architectural gem of the 19th century. Designed by Schinkel's student, Gustav Stier, it combines the rare functions of a church and a grufthali, which makes it an object of great cultural value. Since its construction in 1856, it has served the local community as a place of prayer, reflection, and local celebrations, and today it is once again bustling with life thanks to the efforts of a local association.
The chapel captivates not only with its history, but also with its atmosphere – especially during concerts, exhibitions, or the annual Kapellenfest, held on the second weekend of September. Located right next to the Oder–Neiße cycle route and just a few minutes from the A11 motorway, it is an ideal destination for lovers of architecture, history, and peaceful, picturesque landscapes. It is a place where the past meets the present – and one that is definitely worth discovering.
