The villa on Józef Piłsudski Street is often referred to as “Rost” in honor of the stationery merchant who commissioned the building. It was listed on the register of historic monuments in 2011.
The villa dates back to the second half of the 19th century. As the term “villa” suggests, it was—and to some extent still is—a residential building. In addition, part of the ground floor currently houses a store.
The building is entirely masonry, with red brick covered in plaster as the primary material. Its layout is simple and symmetrical, as it is a single-story building with a two-story front risalit. It is topped by a gable roof.
It features rich architectural details, including cornices, bands, and rustication. Numerous small columns and carvings can also be observed here. The windows are adorned with canopies and cornices.
The villa is in good condition, showing no major signs of damage, thanks to regular maintenance work. In its documents, the municipality identifies the decor of the store section as a threat to the historic building, which can be understood as a mismatch between the building’s architectural features and elements such as advertisements.
The building can be admired from the outside, and the only part that is freely accessible is the store. The entire building is privately owned, and the rest of the structure consists of apartments.
