The Game for Szczecin: Between High Politics and Poland’s National Interest

We invite you to a lecture on the postwar history of Szczecin—a city whose history unfolded at the intersection of high politics and the daily lives of its residents. This is a story about decisions made far away and their consequences felt here, on the Oder River. The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Adam Makowski of the University of Szczecin—a researcher of the modern history of Western Pomerania and the history of Szczecin—in collaboration with Prof. Piotr Briks. The event will offer a look at the city’s history from a local perspective—a dynamic narrative of the transformations, tensions, and choices that shaped the Szczecin we know today.
