18th Baltic Business Forum - Energy for Security Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has shown that access to energy is a strategic and vital asset—for the state, its citizens, and the economy. Świnoujście is the ideal place to reflect on the energy security of Poland and the region. An LNG terminal operates here, through which natural gas flows to Poland and Ukraine. The West Pomeranian Voivodeship—taking into account energy consumption in relation to renewable energy production—is Poland’s leader in energy self-sufficiency, with a rate exceeding 120%. The national average is 28.5%. On the Baltic coast, Polish energy companies are investing in nuclear power and offshore wind farms, and are building natural gas storage facilities.
