“Quadrille Under the Oak Tree”: a concert by the Oak Band featuring the “Chassé” Early Dance Ensemble.

We invite you to another concert by Kapela Dębowa, titled “Kontredans pod dębem.” We chose the concert’s theme because of the special guests we’ve managed to invite for you. On May 7, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Elementary School No. 37 at 6 Rydla Street, the Early Dance Ensemble “Chassé” will perform with us. To begin, we will present two musical stories about how emotions and the other person are the most important things in dance. We have selected pieces about dance from our repertoire, and since—as we all know—all songs are about love, our selections will be about love and dance. After this musical prelude, we will transport you to an era when dance was almost a science. You will be treated to a performance by the “Chassé” Early Dance Ensemble, dressed in period costumes, presenting contredanses, or “dances facing each other.” The “Chassé” group was founded in January 2025 and, on various occasions, showcases the beauty, grace, and charm of Baroque-era dances. Couples line up in rows, perform figures, change places, execute synchronized steps, and exchange bows and curtsies—all with a grace and precision that many a modern dance floor could envy. Madame Małgorzata Zakrzewska, founder of the “Chassé” Early Dance Ensemble and professeur de danse, will introduce us to the secrets of period dances as well as period costumes. The beautiful dancers in their elegant gowns will surely be happy to pose for souvenir photos, and who knows, maybe they’ll even let you try on one of the Baroque dresses? We will therefore gladly hand the stage over to our wonderful guests, and at the end, as the Dębowa Band, we will sing the folk songs we all know—songs that make your feet move on their own and your heart yearn to dance!
