31 Maria Strzelecka - Book signing for children

The Wałcz Municipal Public Library invites children in grades 4–6 to the Wałcz Cultural Center for a meet-and-greet with Maria Strzelecka, author of the book *Beskid bez kitu*. The event will take place in the club room on May 8 at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free. Please register by phone by May 1 at 502 154 893 (limited seating—50 people). Maria Strzelecka—Ph.D. in Fine Arts, painter, illustrator, animator, bass guitarist and vocalist in punk bands, actress, graduate, and currently a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Mother of two children and owner of a Malamute dog. For over a quarter of a century, she has had her own piece of land in the Beskid Niski mountains, which serves as her retreat or a place to meet with friends. She traveled the northern coast of Norway alone on her bicycle. For five seasons, she was half of a two-person crew on a yacht ferrying scientists or tourists to hard-to-reach areas of Spitsbergen. About the book: “Beskid bez kitu,” her debut book, received the Ferdynand Wspaniały Award for the best children’s book published in 2019 and the graphic design award in the 2020 Book of the Year competition organized by the Polish Section of IBBY. In 2022, her second book—“Beskid bez kitu. Zima”—received the same award, this time for both text and illustrations. It was nominated for the Literary Award of the City of Warsaw and won the Lokomotywa poll. Meanwhile, “Hajda. Beskid bez kitu” (2023) is the winner of the City of Warsaw Literary Award, the literary award and graphic design distinction for an original book in the 2023 Book of the Year competition organized by the Polish Section of IBBY, and the audience award at the Children’s Literature Festival in Kraków.
