The FILARY Astronomy Club invites you to another MEETING UNDER THE STARS!
The ARTEMIS 2 Mission – the first crewed flight around the Moon since the Apollo era
Sunday, May 24, 2026
4:30 p.m.
FILARY Science Center in Stargard
More than 50 years after the end of the Apollo program, humanity is once again preparing for crewed flights to the Moon. The Artemis II mission is the next step toward returning humans to the Moon—and further exploration of space.
During the meeting, we will take a closer look at this unique mission and how much technology and our approach to space exploration have changed.
The lecture program includes:
• a comparison of the historic Apollo missions with the Artemis program,
• the crew and the course of the Artemis II mission,
• the Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft – what the return of humans to the Moon’s vicinity looks like (and the journey beyond, toward Mars),
• the latest lunar research and discoveries of recent years,
• space photographs that have changed our view of Earth – from Earthrise to The Blue Marble.
A children’s corner will also be available during the lecture.
This is a perfect opportunity to look into the future of space exploration—at a time when history is being made right before our eyes. ????✨
