As part of this year’s edition of the Young Wolves Art Festival 26 _ EXPERIMENTAL FILM, we are focusing our attention on film projects that fall outside the mainstream of cinema—works in the fields of experimental film, found footage, and animation, in hybrid, documentary, essayistic, or fictionalized forms.
We aim to explore the potential of contemporary Polish experimental cinema by inviting artists from art schools who create bold films addressing contemporary issues and seeking new means of expression in both form and content.
The films (selected through an open call) were chosen by a jury consisting of:
Magda Jaroszewicz (dokumentART in Neubrandenburg),
Lawinia Rate (attaque[e]r le visible in Berlin),
Kuba Mikurda (Łódź Film School)
Magdalena Szymków (Academy of Art in Szczecin)
Małgorzata Mazur (Academy of Art in Szczecin)
From among the 10 nominated films, the jury will select a project during the festival to receive a prize of 5,000 PLN.
Accompanying events include contemporary music concerts. At TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki (Friday, May 22 at 8:00 p.m.), the “OderHive” concert will take place —a participatory and interdisciplinary Polish-German project dedicated to the Oder River—and at the Pomeranian Provincial Palace (Saturday, May 23 at 7:00 PM), a concert by the “Zafraan Ensemble” dedicated to Elise Marie Pade, a pioneer of electronic music.
