Elektryczne Gitary originated from the acoustic project SPIARDL, founded in 1977 by Kuba Sienkiewicz and Piotr Łojek. It was then that the first songs were written, which later became part of the band’s repertoire, including “Dziki,” “Tatusia,” “Człowiek z liściem,” and “Widmo.” In 1989, the decision was made to form an official band under the name Elektryczne Gitary. The original lineup consisted of Kuba Sienkiewicz, Piotr Łojek, Rafał Kwaśniewski, and Marek Kanclerz. Their concert debut took place on May 10, 1990, at Hybrydy in Warsaw. The band gained popularity even before the release of their first album thanks to the songs “Włosy” and “Jestem z miasta.” The album Wielka radość (1992) turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year, and subsequent albums—including A ty co (1993), Huśtawki (1995), Na krzywy ryj (1997), and the soundtracks for the films Kiler and Kilerów 2—cemented the band’s position on the Polish music scene. In the following years, the band released albums including Słodka maska (2000), Atomistyka (2006), Antena (2009), Historia (2010), Nic mnie nie rusza (2012), the anniversary album Stare jak nowe – 25 przebojów na 25-lecie (2014), Czasowniki (2016), and 2020 (2020). In 2016, a biography of the band by Przemysław Zieliński titled Przewróciło się was also published. In 2025, the band embarked on an indoor concert tour titled “W cieniu sufitów,” and in 2026, guitarist Sebastian Ruciński joined the lineup, replacing Jacek Wąsowski. For over three decades, Elektryczne Gitary have remained one of the most recognizable and respected bands in Polish rock. Elektryczne Gitary’s biggest hits include “Jestem z miasta,” “Włosy,” “Dzieci,” “Nie pij Piotrek,” “Kiler,” “Co ty tutaj robisz,” “Człowiek z liściem na głowie,” “Przewróciło się,” “Wyszków tonie,” and “Koniec.” See you at the band’s concert on July 10 during the 10th FDJ in Wałcz!
