The Youth Water Rescue Team (MDRW) is a group of young people united by a passion for rescue work. As part of the team’s meetings, regular training sessions are held to engage children and teenagers and raise their awareness of safety. During the project, our partners from the Szczecin Volunteer Fire Department will lead fire safety classes, and we, together with members of the Artmed Rescue Association, will conduct workshops on treating heavy bleeding and prepare emergency response scenarios. We will practice treating various types of wounds based on their size (ranging from abrasions and cuts to major and extreme bleeding) and their cause (skin abrasions, cuts, lacerations, burns, wounds with profuse arterial bleeding, and gunshot wounds).
The goal of the project is to provide practical training for young first responders and professional rescue teams in firefighting operations and the treatment of various types of wounds.
The project’s beneficiaries will be members of WOPR (MDRW, the Intervention Group, and beach lifeguards), Artmed paramedics, and members of the Volunteer Fire Department (OSP). Their training will ultimately contribute to increased public safety. An increasing percentage of rescue operations in our organization involve medical emergencies. Therefore, it is very important to familiarize and train young lifeguards on how to handle injured or traumatized victims and how to provide them with proper care.
