“The Safety Spectrum—Autism in Emergency Situations” is a practical training program designed for members of uniformed services and first responders, focusing on how to respond safely and effectively when interacting with a person with autism. Participants will learn about the specific ways people with autism function in stressful and intervention situations, as well as communication methods that can help reduce tension and increase the safety of everyone involved in the incident. The training will include practical workshops with sensory stations, during which participants will be able to experience selected challenges related to sensory overload and observe how it affects the perception of stimuli, concentration, and the performance of simple tasks. The training will also include case studies of intervention situations and a discussion of the principles of cooperation between emergency services and the parents and caregivers of people with autism. Project partners: National Autism Society, Szczecin Branch, and the Idę Dalej Foundation. Media sponsors: Radio Szczecin and TVP3 Szczecin. The project is implemented by the Pełnoprawni MY Foundation as part of the Społecznik Program, initiated by the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
