JANUSZ RADEK – ONLY NICE SONGS Janusz Radek alone at the piano. In his new program, “Only Nice Songs,” he reveals a lesser-known corner of his musical world—previously unreleased songs, brought together for the first time into a cohesive concert program. Szczecin’s Łasztownia hides a place where the past meets the present. Janusz Radek’s songs will resonate within the historic interiors of the Old Slaughterhouse, where former industrial architecture has been given new life. The brick walls, the unique character of this place, and the artist’s presence will create a space where words, sounds, and emotions take center stage. Some of the songs have appeared before during Janusz’s online “house parties”—some only once, others sporadically. Now they are given new life and their own place on stage. The new will meet the familiar—songs set to poems by Halina Poświatowska and Cyprian Kamil Norwid will also be performed, along with well-known pieces that audiences have been returning to for years. And there’s plenty to look back on—Janusz has released nine albums, including three gold records. For over three decades, he has been blending original songs, poetry, and theater. Here, much depends on the moment—on the audience’s reaction, a single association, or a story that comes to mind at the piano. Janusz possesses as much lyricism as he does contrariness, and he can defuse the solemnity of the moment with a single comment. Laughter mingles with silence, digressions with lyricism, and sound with pauses. And then he returns to the song. His voice shifts from a whisper to full power within a single line. In this intimate space, you can hear every breath, every suspended word. And suddenly you catch yourself listening. Really listening. With your whole being.
