Book Launch: “Cancer: From Diagnosis to Action”

The Stargard Cultural Center cordially invites you to an event marking the nationwide premiere of the book *CANCER: FROM DIAGNOSIS TO ACTION. AN ONCOLOGY GUIDE*, by ALEKSANDRA ZALEWSKA-STANKIEWICZ. The book “Cancer: From Diagnosis to Action: An Oncology Guide” combines specialized medical knowledge with patients’ personal accounts. Over the course of two years, the author conducted nearly 30 interviews with people who have experienced cancer as well as with leading specialists: oncologists, gynecologists, urologists, dietitians, and psycho-oncologists. Four of the interviewees will participate in the event at the Stargard Cultural Center: Prof. Tomasz K. Wojdacz, M.D., Ph.D. – a researcher in epigenetics and president of the International Society for Molecular and Clinical Epigenetics; Dr. REMIGIUSZ STAMIROWSKI, M.D. – a urologist at the Urology Department of SPSZOZ Zdroje in Szczecin, also affiliated with SPWZOZ in Stargard; MICHAŁ BRYŁA – he was 20 years old when he received his diagnosis: testicular cancer; he works at the Stargard County Office; AGNIESZKA ODACHOWSKA-PIOSIK – as a young girl, she was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer; she is the president of the Foundation for Rural Development and is involved in promoting the “Pink Patrol.” An important part of the event will be a presentation of a preventive health campaign prepared by the County Sanitary and Epidemiological Station. The meeting will be moderated by Joanna Tomczak, director of the Stargard Cultural Center. The book is sponsored by 14 organizations, including the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology, the Rak’n’Roll Foundation, “Win Life!” and the OnkoCafe-Razem Lepiej Foundation. The book is available for purchase at online bookstores, including Empik. About the author: Aleksandra Zalewska-Stankiewicz—a journalist specializing in medical topics and a native of Stargard.
