• Address: Głowackiego 5, Maszewo

The residential building located on Głowackiego Street stands out for its interesting architecture. It consists of two parts—a tower and a residential building. The distinctive tower, with its romantic character, is the oldest part, built in the second half of the 19th century. Around 1920, the residential building was added to it. Locals refer to the structure as the “little palace” or “Gardener’s House.” The latter name seems closer to the truth—while the complex was never a palace, it most likely (though this is not certain) did indeed serve as a gardener’s house. This is because nearby lies a park that once surrounded the actual palace, the former residence of the von Eberstein family, the last owners of Maszewo. The palace still stood during the interwar period (it housed a daycare center), but it was destroyed during the war, and only its foundations remain today. The house with the tower itself became private property after World War II and remains so to this day. Unfortunately, it has not been renovated for many years and is falling into ruin at an increasing rate. Despite this, it remains an architectural curiosity, and if you’re in Maszewo, it’s worth seeing. Both the building itself and its location on the edge of the former manor park, near the ponds, make it a picturesque spot.
