The Monument to Jan Wyszak is dedicated to a Szczecin sailor, merchant and village leader who lived in the 12th century. He was involved in privateering for most of his life. The legend says that when he was caught in captivity in a dream, he saw Otto of Bamberg, who promised him freedom in exchange for stopping his plundering activities and acting to convert the pagan people of Szczecin. The sculpture was unveiled in 1970 and its author is Stanisław Lewiński. Artificial stone was used to create it.
