Palace

The palace and park complex was established in the 1870s, and construction work continued into the 1880s. From its inception until the end of the war, the palace and its estate changed hands frequently; after the war, it belonged to the state-owned farm (PGR) in Chude, and the palace housed employee apartments as well as a community center. It is currently privately owned. The palace was built in the Neoclassical style on an irregular rectangular plan, enhanced by a corner pseudo-tower and corner projections. It is essentially a one-story building, with a usable attic in some sections. On the north side, the roof covering part of the building is accented by triangular gables, while the northeast corner is adorned with an unusual oval gable. The corner projections also have varied forms—one is quadrangular, the other pentagonal, and both are two-story structures, while the corner tower extends only to the first floor and features a terrace with a brick balustrade at the top. The building’s facades are also varied—the building is set on a high plinth, separated from the ground floor by a double cornice; the cornice, together with a cuboid frieze, also crowns the upper part of the structure. The eastern facade features a smooth frieze. The walls are embellished with rusticated pilasters, and there are also decorative elements created by surfaces of plaster varying in color and texture. The window and door openings are rectangular in shape but vary in proportion; on most facades, the windows are arranged symmetrically. The attic windows are noticeably smaller, with the outer ones being nearly square in shape. The building was neglected and fell into disrepair both during the period when it was used by state farm employees and in the years that followed. Currently, a private owner is gradually renovating the palace, restoring it to its former glory.
