The palace was built in the Gothic style in the second half of the 15th century. It was erected on the site of an earlier structure dating from the early 14th century. In 1568, it was rebuilt and given the characteristics of a Renaissance residence. The palace was given new interiors and facades, including an eye-catching gable decorated with manswork. A bay window was built into the west wall, which is considered one of the most beautiful structures in Pomerania. The three-flight staircase inside the building is also noteworthy. Together with the cathedral, the sacristan’s house, the canonry, the rectory, the dean’s residence, and the school, it formed part of the former cathedral precinct.

After 1945, the palace served as a library. Today, it houses the archives and exhibition halls of the Museum of the History of the Kamień Region.
