The cemetery, located near the Old Town, is situated across from the parish church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Its current layout differs from the original design. The oldest part of the cemetery dates back to the first half of the 19th century and was located near the railroad tracks, where the western part of Old Town Park stands today. Over time, the cemetery was expanded by moving it eastward toward Mazurska Street. It was in this area that burials took place until the early 1960s. The old part of the cemetery was transformed into what is now Old Town Park. The cemetery was originally Evangelical, and after World War II it became a Roman Catholic cemetery. The grounds are still fenced off and contain several dozen postwar Polish graves. The former German gravestones were moved to a lapidarium located within the park. A few of them still lie near the entrance from Mazurska Street. To this day, the residents of Police visit the graves of their deceased loved ones here, light candles, and lay flowers.
