Located in Drawsko Pomorskie, the monument dedicated to Soviet soldiers is colloquially referred to by the town’s residents as “the tanks” due to its very distinctive appearance. Two T-34 tanks are positioned side by side on a tall stone pedestal, and a commemorative plaque attached to the pedestal bears an inscription in Polish and Russian: “To the Red Army soldiers who fell in 1945 during the battles for the liberation of the Drawsko region—The Residents of Drawsko.” The monument was created by Zygmunt Wujek, a sculptor from Koszalin, and its official unveiling took place on May 9, 1970. The monument stands in the same spot where a monument to Emperor Wilhelm stood until 1945. Today, the monument is a local landmark, frequently photographed by tourists, and the square surrounding it has become a favorite gathering place before hikes organized by the Drawsko branch of the PTTK.
