The street pump was installed in the main square in Wałcz as part of the square’s renovation in 2003. That year, on April 23, the city celebrated the 700th anniversary of receiving its city charter. It was then that the historic Wałcz market square was given a new look, largely reminiscent of its appearance during the interwar period. The greenery that had formed a small downtown park was removed; the square was paved, and the stone fountain and iron pump were reinstalled. It is a genuine, functioning device, styled after a historic, pre-war pump. Note the fluting on the main shaft and the decorative dome capping the pump. In front of the pump stands a basin on a square column, designed to collect water.
