The tower was originally located within the town walls. Getting inside it was possible through the entrance located at a height of about 3 metres above the ground. In addition to the observation and gunpowder tower, it was also a gunpowder warehouse. It was stored at the lower storey or in close proximity to the tower.
The tower was built at the turn of the fourteenth century. It was built on a circular plan. It is a two-cylinder building, topped by a pyramidal roof. At the base of the upper cylinder, there used to be a porch, and the only trace after it is the south-western exit.
As a part of the revitalisation of the tower conducted in 2007, a wooden entrance was made, woodwork in the inner part of the building was replaced by the metal structure and the roof was raised, thereby creating a viewing balcony. The tower is open to the public.
