• Address: Rynek, 74-320 Barlinek

This sculpture was donated to the town in 1912 by two residents of Barlinek who had amassed a considerable fortune in Germany; it was created by the Munich artist Knut Ackerman (or Knut Akberg, according to other sources). The picturesque fountain is a favorite gathering place for residents. The goose girl has become a symbol of Barlinek, and the figure of the girl is associated with a local legend about a shepherdess who was unjustly sentenced to death for allegedly practicing witchcraft. She was saved by geese, which flew in just before the execution and carried the girl away on their wings.
