Where pious Poor Clares prayed in the Middle Ages, the treasures of the German Amber Museum shine today. The visitor is introduced to the natural, as well as the art and cultural history of amber. Topics of the permanent exhibition include: Amber findings on the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the history of amber hunting and the amber turning trade in the Middle Ages, large-scale amber extraction in the 19th century and modern artistic processing in the present. In the museum workshop you have the opportunity to try your hand at amber cutting.
Tip for families: In the open action area of the KinderBernsteinland there are great opportunities for families to get involved with the gold of the coast.
