The Slavic Village is located a short walk along the lake shore from the Neustrelitz city harbor. You can also moor your kayak at the rustic wooden pier. Discover how the Slavs lived in our region about 1,000 years ago, how they designed their homes, and how they practiced their crafts. The clay and wooden huts, built in the traditional style, are not a museum—they invite you to participate and get creative. For example, you can learn about historical crafts such as pottery, felting, and blacksmithing. You can also make beeswax candles, weave baskets, carve, or create beautiful souvenirs from soapstone. If the weather god “Pernu” permits, a round-trip excursion across the lake in the faithfully reconstructed Slavic boat “Nakon” is quite an experience—rowing requires your own muscle power. Regular activity days, a small exhibition, regional products, and homemade bread baked several times a week round out the offerings.
The Slavic Village is designed for families, school classes, tour groups, and people with disabilities. It holds the “Familienland MV” quality seal.
Hours: From mid-April to mid-October, Monday through Friday starting at 10 a.m. (exact hours can be found on the website).
