The Stralsund Gate, also called "Sundisches Tor", is one of three surviving gates of the medieval fortification that once surrounded the city. The listed brick gate, which secured the road to Stralsund, was built around 1320/30. Since then it served as a defense gate, as a dwelling of the court servant and as a prison. In 1910, the gate was damaged in a lightning strike and rebuilt in detail. In the 1970s and 1990s, the Stralsund Gate was extensively restored.
