The animal park of Grimmen was opened in 1957. Today the animal population includes 260 animals of 60 species on 2.6 ha. During a relaxing walk through the park you can observe European lynxes, Siberian tigers, common rheas, guanacos, llamas, alpacas and capuchins. The animal park's pond is the home of swans, ducks and geese and in the petting enclosure you can experience African dwarf goats and German goats from up close. The animal park is one of the few zoological gardens that are keeping and breeding alpacas.
Visitors who visit by car should park on the parking spot at Friedrichstraße. From where it’s only a short walk through the park to the animal park's entrance.
