The route, approximately 45 km long on the Polish side, follows the picturesque trail of the former CPO narrow-gauge railway (Kleinbahn Casekow–Penkun–Oder) through Będargowo and Barnisław to the border crossing in Ladenthin. Further on, already on the German side, the excellent Hohenholz–Ladenthin section begins, also running along a railway embankment. Along the way, you can see reconstructed stone kilometer posts and an old signpost with the inscription "Stettin 19 km."
After passing Krackow, it is worth stopping in Battinsthal to visit the Gutshaus Battinsthal castle park and the Kapellen-Blick viewpoint, located near the Schuckmannsche Grabkapelle church. Then, follow the D12 Oder-Neisse route to Penkun, where you can relax in the Schloss Penkun palace park and visit the Schlossmuseum Penkun.
The next section of the D12 Oder-Neisse Trail leads to Tantow, from where its branch, the D12-A, takes you on a scenic route through Freudenfeld and Geesow to Mescherin. The end of the trip is marked by the border crossing in Pargow, from where you can continue on other trails.
The CPO line was established at the end of the 19th century and connected Casekow with Szczecin Pomorzanami, serving mainly to transport beets to the sugar factory in Gumieńce.
