• Address: al. Wojska Polskiego 111, 70-483 Szczecin

The villa at 111 Wojska Polskiego Avenue was built in 1894. Architect Kunter is believed to have designed the building. It is a two-story structure built of brick. Looking at the building’s main facade, one can notice the interesting design of the mansard roof and a staircase with an impressive balustrade. Interestingly, the staircase does not lead to the entrance at all but is located next to a window that does not provide access to the outside. The main entrance is located at the rear of the building. The building also features a projecting wing supporting a small portico. The house was built for Director Wilhelm Jahn. The total usable floor area of the building, including the attic, is 290.7m². In 1903, garages were built on the villa’s grounds. After the owner’s death, his wife took over the property along with the building. Starting in 1992, the building served as the headquarters of the Polish-American Private Elementary School. It was attended by the children of foreigners living and working in Szczecin. Its founder was Alex Kłoszewski. At the school, teachers conducted classes in German, English, and computer science, and also emphasized fostering the children’s passions by organizing various types of interest clubs. Currently, the school has moved to the other side of the street and is located at the site of the former Mars restaurant. The villa has been listed as a Szczecin historic landmark since 1993. There are as many as 18 similar protected historic sites on Wojska Polskiego Street alone. Virtually all of them are former villas.
