RETROSPECTIVE: Richard Horowitz

The anniversary exhibition on the occasion of Richard Horowitz's 85th birthday is an ideal opportunity to organize a retrospective overview of the master's greatest achievements of the past years. The exhibition is a spontaneous walk through various moments of Horowitz's work, presenting his approach to subjects as diverse as fashion, automobiles, emotions, illusion and a futuristic view of the world. We present a retrospective overview of his most important works from 1969-2022.

Often when looking at my works, people are convinced that they were created more recently and using computer software. However, many of them were created before 1990, when I was not aware of the existence of computers.

The exhibition is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 16:00.

About the author

Photographer, pioneer of computer processing of photographs, co-founder of the American Association of Advertising Photographers APA.

He was born on May 5, 1939 in Cracow, Poland. In March 1959 he left Poland for New York, where he still lives and works today. During World War II he lived with his family in the Krakow ghetto and was a prisoner of several concentration camps. He was on the famous "Schindler's List" and was one of the youngest prisoners rescued from Auschwitz-Birkenau.

In 1967 he opened his own photo agency, which he still runs today. He began to engage in playing with form and advanced technologies. He developed his own recognizable style, strongly experimental. His photos depict dreamlike unreal scenes, a play of symbols and images.
