International Lutoslawski Youth Orchestra 2024 | FINAL

International Lutoslawski Youth Orchestra - is the flagship project of the Szczecin Philharmonic and the only international youth orchestra in Poland. This year, as many as 252 young instrumentalists from thirty countries around the world on four continents participated in auditions for the orchestra, and it was from among them that this year's lineup was selected. These extremely talented, ambitious young musicians will present works by Penderecki, Bernstein, Lutoslawski and Dvořák to the Szczecin audience.

If the world of classical music ever had its "Renaissance man," it was certainly Leonard Bernstein. Composer, pianist, conductor and popularizer of music. As a composer, he found his way into both the classical and popular music worlds. He was a giant of conducting, loved by the public and admired by classical musicians. The concert will begin with perhaps the most frequently performed work by Leonard Bernstein - the famous Candide Overture. He composed it for the operetta of the same name, which premiered in 1955. The operetta was based on Voltaire's 1758 novella, which was a satire on superstition and the fashionable philosophical views of his time, especially the Catholic Church's inquisition. Although Candide was a moderate success, the overture has permanently entered the iron repertoire of most symphony orchestras around the world. It is a tribute to a life of passion, emotion, enthusiasm and exuberance. And its performance requires extraordinary speed and precision from the musicians.
