Dikanda with Orchestra

The inaugural event of the tournament will be a concert by the band Dikanda, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of the Szczecin Philharmonic.

Dikanda is a Szczecin-based band playing world music, especially recognized on the foreign music market. In its work, Dikanda focuses on authenticity of style - it seeks new currents and most of its songs are original compositions. Musical inspirations are drawn from traditional folk sounds of the broader orient - from the Balkans, Israel, Kurdistan, Belarus and India. In their songs you can hear mainly Balkan and Gypsy sounds. The band has been in existence since 1997. Dikanda has 7 albums to their credit - including a Live DVD recorded at the Witkacy Theater in Zakopane; hundreds of concerts (mainly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also in Russia, India and the USA), and they have won numerous awards - including "Record of the Year" from the German magazine "Folker" awarded in 2005 for "Usztijo." Dikanda's concerts are a highly emotional journey through ethnic sounds, a lively encounter full of energy, charisma, and true feelings. Characteristic for Dikanda is the creation of new words in the lyrics of songs, in this way the original language of the group - "dikandish" - was created. The most important thing in the band's work is the message, which is the relationship between the artists and the audience.

The songs presented at the concert are arranged by Mateusz Czarnowski, composer and conductor, leader of the Bubliczki band. Dikanda will perform for the first time with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Szczecin Philharmonic, and thus begin the 9th edition of the Tournament of Real Musicians.
