FRIEDRICH CHOPIN AT THE VILLA LENTZ. ALL WORKS

SALEEM ABBOUD ASHKAR

On Saturday (27.07.2024, at 19.00), another concert will be held as part of the series FRYDERYK CHOPIN IN WILLIA LENTZ. THE WORKS OF ALL. This time the invitation to a Chopin recital in the artistic salon of the city was accepted by the brilliant artist Saleem Abboud Ashkar.

A native of Nazareth, the musician took his first piano lessons from a relative in Lebanon, then continued his studies with Ari Vardi in Tel Aviv and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, and at London's Royal Academy of Music he studied with Maria Curcio.

The seventeen-year-old pianist's great talent was discovered by the world-famous conductor Zubin Mehta, and he offered him to perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, the instrumentalist has performed with some of the world's most important orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Filharmonica della Scala, Concertgebouworkest, Gewandhausorchester, and the orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, among others. As a 22-year-old, he made his debut at New York's Carnegie Hall, then was admired at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, London's Wigmore Hall, Salzburg's Mozarteum, Vienna's Musikverein and Brussels' Palais des Beaux Arts. The great musician has been applauded at notable festivals, including the BBC Proms in London, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, the Klavier-Festival Ruhr and the Salzburger Festspiele. He also regularly performs with legendary conductors such as the aforementioned Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim and Riccardo Muti.

Saleem Abboud Ashkar will open his recital at the Villa Lentz with Robert Schumann's Fantasia in C Major, Op. 17. In this way, the musician probably wants to remind listeners of the German Romantic era composer's two meetings with Frederic Chopin. They took place in Leipzig on September 28, 1835 and a year later on September 12. In addition, the historic interiors will resound with Chopin's two Nocturnes in D-flat Major, Op. 27 No. 2 and in C minor, Op. 48 No. 1, as well as the Scherzo in B-flat Minor, Op. 31 No. 2 and the Sonata in B minor, Op. 58 No. 3.

We therefore invite you to an extraordinary concert, probably full of unforgettable experiences.
