The Watergate scandal, which resulted in the resignation of a president guilty of abuse of power and lying testimony before a Senate committee, caused a real shock in America. The film reconstructs the arduous investigation conducted by two journalists from the Washington Post, who stumbled upon the trail of illegal wiretapping practices and published the materials found in the case. The film does not explain the behind-the-scenes issues of the affair, but it remains a passionate political-sentence drama with a star-studded cast, made using the paradocumentary method, following the actions of the characters step by step.

50 years ago, on August 9, 1974, President Nixon resigned as a result of the Watergate scandal.
