The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (original: Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari) is a 1920 German silent film directed by Robert Wiene. It is considered one of the first masterpieces of horror cinema and a key work of German cinematic expressionism, which had a huge impact on the development of cinematography.

The plot of the film depicts a story told by Francis, one of the main characters. The mysterious Dr. Caligari appears in the small German town of Holstenwall and presents his somnambulist, Cesare, at a fair. The somnambulist predicts the death of Alan, Francis' friend, which indeed occurs before dawn. Suspicions fall on Dr. Caligari and his protégé, but another man is apprehended in the act, complicating the investigation.

Francis decides to follow Dr. Caligari on his own, discovering that Caligari is in fact the director of a local psychiatric hospital. Over time, it comes to light that the doctor is conducting experiments inspired by an 18th-century scientist who forced sleepwalkers to commit murders. Ultimately, Francis' story turns out to be the narrative of a mentally ill person, and all the characters, including Caligari, turn out to be patients of the hospital.

The film, with its distinctive expressionistic visual style, depicts a distorted, horror-filled world that still inspires filmmakers today.

The play, which has been staged 50 times in the capital, has been broadcast many times on TVP Kultura. The musicians have 6 original albums in their discography.
