Old Breton musical forms such as Gwerz, Gavotte or An Dro merge organically with oriental sounds in Astrakan Project - and even some dark ballad material is transformed musically in such a way that a positive basic feeling remains.
From their village in Brittany, Astrakan Project regularly set off on journeys of discovery in all directions. Curiosity and focus are central to them - and these coordinates can also be used to describe their music.
They sing in Breton, but sounds from Turkey, Greece, Albania, Georgia and Sweden can also be heard.
Astrakan Project create a musical cosmos that can seem surprising and familiar at the same time - and invite you to dance as well as float along.
