Meeting with the author Joanna Jagiełło

As part of a special event, children and young people will have the opportunity to meet the renowned author Joanna Jagiello in person. A graduate of English studies at the University of Warsaw, she has collaborated with the monthly magazines "Perspektywy" and "Cogito" and is the editor of English textbooks. Her two daughters, 16-year-old Julka and 6-year-old Basia, are a constant source of inspiration for her. During the talk, Joanna Jagiello will not only talk about her literary work and inspirations, but also read fragments from two of her books: "Green Dr. Martens" and "Birthday". "Green Dr. Martens": Otylia is fascinating. She magically attracts Feliks' attention. With her extravagant style and her carefree way of not caring what others think, it's no wonder that Feliks quickly falls for her. But only after some time does he discover that she is hiding a secret - one that makes her much more like him than he first thought. Feliks does everything he can to spend time with Otylia, but this proves difficult. Now that his mother is working, it's up to him to take care of the household - and his annoying little sister! A story about love and loneliness that will touch many young hearts. "Birthday" Majka invites almost the whole class to her birthday party - but only almost. She deliberately decides to exclude Jessica, Heavy and More from her party. An awkward situation arises, which each of the three has to deal with in their own way. But do they have a chance to feel at home in the class community again? This book deals with the topic of exclusion, but is also a plea for true friendship. It shows that we ourselves have the power to shape our world - even as teenagers.
