The poor tailor has a somewhat headstrong goat. When she claims that the tailor's children have left her hungry, he casts the three of them out. Franz, Gustav and Wiebke go out into the world and learn a trade. At the end of their apprenticeship, they each receive a farewell gift: a little table, a gold donkey and a club from the sack. What they don't know is that although they have different professions, they have all learned from the same master: the magician Aldous von Rübenschmalz. His rival, the witch Walpurga Drachenzahn, set a trap for him and it was only because of this that the deceitful goat was able to break up the tailor family ... So Aldous now tries to repair the damage.
