The long weekend in August brought fantastic results – our counters recorded as many as 51,641 trips, and on Saturday, a record number of cyclists was set – 21,330! On Friday and Sunday, there were fewer trips, but still over 15,000 cyclists.
Record readings were recorded on Saturday by counters in Rogowo and Kołczewo on the Velo Baltica route (1,181 and 3,650 respectively), and the record on the Old Railway Trail in Toporzyk was almost broken (375 cyclists).
The trails along the coast continue to be the most popular – in Świnoujście, near the border, the average daily number of cyclists reached 6,000! Six counters with the highest number of crossings are located on the Velo Baltica route. But Western Pomerania is not only about the sea – the bridge in Siekierki on the Western Lake District Route was visited by nearly 1,000 cyclists, and the same number crossed the eastern side of the trail through Borne Sulinowo.
We would also like to remind you about the new section of the Old Railway Trail – from Wałcz to Wierzchowo near Złocieniec. The route between Wałcz and Złocieniec consists of 90% paved bicycle paths, and although technical inspections are still ongoing, over 300 cyclists rode along it last weekend. You can continue your journey towards Połczyn-Zdrój, Borne Sulinowo, or Ińsko.
Comparing this to the holiday period from June 1 to August 14, 2025, our counters recorded an average of 10,500 trips per day, and looking only at weekends, just under 12,000 . During the long weekend (August 15-18), the average was already 17,000 trips. The previous daily record was also set during a long weekend last year, on August 15, 2024, with just under 20,000 cyclists. So we broke last year's record by almost 2,000 trips. Not all counters broke the record, but all counters recorded a significant increase compared to other days, especially in Nowe Warpno and Toporzyk, where there were nearly three times more trips during the weekend compared to the summer average. This is particularly important because the first half of 2025 did not fare too well compared to other years, certainly due to the cool summer. However, this weekend showed that interest in the routes is not waning, quite the contrary. We can soon expect another boost on the Western Lake District Route when the undoubtedly charming section through Ińsko (where a counter is also planned) is opened. On our website, users can already find the percentage share of a given surface. On the West Pomeranian trails, 80% are asphalt or cobblestone roads. Gravel riding enthusiasts have 163 km of aggregate at their disposal. Only local sections are unpaved roads.
Thank you for every kilometer you ride! Together, we are showing that it is worth discovering our routes by bike through Western Pomerania.
