During this year's summer holidays, we managed to break the record for the number of trips in a single day, which currently stands at 21,330 cyclists. However, you eagerly used our routes throughout the entire holiday period. Let's take a closer look at what tourist traffic looked like in the West Pomeranian Province in July and August.

In July, 337,579 trips were recorded, and in August, significantly more – as many as 377,065. In total, from June 28, the first day of summer vacation, to August 31, our seventeen counters recorded 748,137 trips, which gives an average of 11,510 cyclists per day. This is slightly less than last summer, but this year the weather was not always conducive to long bike trips. There are 17 counters in the region, but there will be more in the future. For convenience, all devices recording bicycle traffic are shown on the map below.

Along the entire Velo Baltica route, from Świnoujście to Darłowo, cyclists agreed on the date of their vacation. All counters recorded the highest number of trips on August 16 (a long weekend). A total of 17,663 cyclists passed through the five coastal counters on that day. On the same day, the routes in Nowe Warpno (Around the Szczecin Lagoon - 115 people), Borne Sulinowo (Western Lake District Route - 459 people) and Toporzyk (Old Railway Trail - 375 people) were particularly popular. In turn, the northern part of the Old Railway Trail, leading from Wałcz to the Baltic Sea, had the highest occupancy on July 20. The holiday record was broken both in Karlino (184 people) and in Mielno (1,591 people).

Speaking of Mielno, it once again deserved the title of West Pomeranian Night City. At 9:00 p.m., bicycle traffic there reached about half of the daily peak level, while in other towns, a significant decline is usually already observed at this time. The highest hourly traffic intensity in the region occurs in the late afternoon. Below is a comparison with two other coastal towns with a similar number of trips - Darłowo and Kołczewo, which, however, have been recording decreasing traffic since noon.

As for the slightly less frequented but equally interesting Blue Velo route, the highest traffic was recorded on the weekend of July 26-27, also on the Pojezierna route near Barlinek. The counter in Pilchowo near Szczecin recorded 1,275 trips on those two days, and on the southern section of the route, in Chwarstnica and Mostkowo, there were over 500. Similar numbers were recorded by the counter near the bridge in Siekierki, although the daily record in Przyjezierze was broken on August 10. The first months of 2025 did not promise high traffic on the northern section of Blue Velo (Miedzyzdroje-Szczecin), which coincides with the route Around the Szczecin Lagoon, but fortunately, the trend has reversed. In Czarnocin, near Wolin, monthly records were broken in both June and July, and in August, only 13 people were needed to set a new record. This route is unique because it runs along the shore of a lake, where it is often very windy, and the surface is gravel. We are therefore all the more pleased with the growing popularity of this section.

On the last day of the summer holidays, the new route from Złocieniec to Wałcz also enjoyed great interest. A record number (so far) of 215 people used it. Although this number may not seem impressive, it should be remembered that the counter has only been in operation for two months, and the route itself has not yet been officially opened or widely promoted. It is likely that this result will be at least twice as high during the next May Day holiday. More than 500 people also took a trip along the embankment on the eastern side of Lake Dąbie, the highest result this summer on this section. In total, on August 31, during a sunny Sunday, more than 11,000 people used the bicycle infrastructure.

Although the holidays are behind us, cycling trips do not have to end. September and the following autumn months are a great time for trips – the trails are quieter, the weather is still favorable, and nature is slowly changing its colors. So we encourage you to set off on a trip even after the summer season and discover the charms of the region in a slightly different, equally beautiful version.
