Goleniów will be the next town to gain safe access to the West Pomerania Cycle Route Network. The new cycle path will run alongside provincial road No. 111 and connect Goleniów with Modrzewie, crossing the Blue Velo cycle route and the Szczecin Lagoon Cycle Route. The investment will be co-financed by the European Funds for Western Pomerania 2021-27.

Marshal Olgierd Geblewicz and ZZDW Director Waldemar Wejnmerowski handed over the construction site to Strabag, which will build

The construction site was handed over to the contractor on Friday, 28 November 2025. The cycle path should be ready in July next year. The investment will be treated as the third stage of the Blue Velo route construction.

"The new section will connect Goleniów with the Around the Szczecin Lagoon cycle route and the Blue Velo route running along the Polish-German border. This is important for cyclists from Goleniów as well as those who travel to Goleniów by train with their bicycles. Once this section is built, both the comfort and safety of cycling trips will increase," says Olgierd Geblewicz, Marshal of the West Pomeranian Province.

Blue Velo is one of five cycle routes that currently make up the West Pomeranian Cycle Route Network. It runs along the Oder River and the Polish-German border, connecting the coast with Kostrzyn nad Odrą. The northern part of the trail runs along the waters of Lake Dąbie and the Szczecin Lagoon. In the south, a large part of the route was built on the old railway lines.

The construction of the new link begins in Modrzewie in the municipality of Goleniów. From there, the new cycle route will run towards the junction of the S3 road with provincial road No. 111 on its northern side. The cycle path will be 2.5 m wide and have a bituminous surface. The section will be 2.24 km long. In addition, 3.74 km of the route will be marked as part of this project.

The study excludes the passage through the Goleniów Zachód junction itself. Here, cyclists will have to use the existing solution.

After the junction, the route will run along existing pedestrian and bicycle paths along Wojska Polskiego, Armii Krajowej and Szkolna Streets. This part of the route will be marked. The last 150-metre section of the route, which will run along Kazimierza Pułaskiego Street, will also be marked. The end of the new route is located in the square in front of the railway station in Goleniów.

The construction works will cost over PLN 3.2 million. The contractor will be Strabag Sp. z o.o. The bid was selected from among 11 submitted in the tender.
